EVANSTON, Ill. – Another busy weekend awaits the Northwestern volleyball team at the Lipscomb Invitational in Nashville, Tenn. The Wildcats (4-2) will square off against Virginia Tech and Lipscomb in a Friday doubleheader before wrapping up competition against Ole Miss on Saturday.
 
Chicago's Big Ten Team faces Virginia Tech at 10 a.m. CT Friday morning and host school Lipscomb at 7:30 p.m. The 'Cats take on the Rebels at 12:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
 
The Wildcats hold the edge in all three limited all-time series.

SYMONE SLAM
Junior outside hitter Symone Abbott has begun the season on a tear. She is averaging 4.8 kills per set through the first six matches, which ranks first in the Big Ten and 13th nationally. She had 22 kills in a three-set match vs. George Washington to open the season, which is the fourth-most in the NCAA this year and second-most in program history for a three-setter. Abbott is hitting .365 for the season, and her .700 mark against Buffalo (14-for-20) is the fourth-best performance in the country for a three-set match.
 
HAMMER IT HOME
Northwestern's dominant start to the season has put it near the top of the national charts in hitting. The Wildcats rank third in the Big Ten and eighth in the country with a .310 team hitting percentage. Chicago's Big Ten Team ranks 7th in the Big Ten with 13.6 kills per set.
 
MILESTONE TRACKER
Taylor Tashima's moved into ninth-place all-time at Northwestern in assists with her 37th and final against Chattanoota. She currently sits at 2,260 for her career and is just 75 away from eighth. At her current pace she could end up as high as fourth by the end of the season.
 
WHERE THEY RANK
Northwestern ranks third in the Big Ten in hitting percentage (.310) and seventh in kills (13.6) and aces (1.4). Individually, Symone Abbott leads the conference with 4.8 kills per set. Abbott also ranks eighth with 0.8 aces per set, and Taylor Tashima ranks sixth with 10.7 assists per set. New liberto Katie Kniep is ninth with 3.9 digs per set.
