Zieba to Compete in Collegiate Invitational at U.S. Open

FLUSHING, N.Y. – Northwestern senior Konrad Zieba has been selected to participate in the American Collegiate Invitational at the U.S. Open this week.
Zieba is one of eight collegiate players who will make the trip to New York to compete in a single-elimination tournament with a spot at the 2017 U.S. Open on the line. The winner will be placed in either the qualifying or main draw, depending on his ranking next summer.
The champion will also earn wild card invitations to two USTA Pro Circuit events, while the runner-up receives one.
Zieba will open against Stanford's Tom Fawcett in the quarterfinals. The two played each other when Northwestern and Stanford met in the NCAA Tournament Round of 32.
The tournament will take place Sept. 8-10 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
