CHICAGO — Brenna Lovera and Kassidy Gorman each found the back of the net in the second half to lead No. 25 Northwestern to a 2-1 come-from-behind win over DePaul at Wish Field on Thursday afternoon.
The win improves the Wildcats to a perfect 3-0-0 on the young season, while the Blue Demons fall to 0-1-1.
DePaul struck first in the contest when Avery Hay found Kelli Hubly for a goal in the 4th minute to take the 1-0 lead. The goal was the first that Northwestern has surrendered on the season.
The Blue Demons held the 1-0 lead until the 78th minute when Maria Fayeulle played a heel-kick through the legs of a defender and down the sideline to Lovera, who took it into the box and finished far post to tie the game at 1-1.
Lovera has scored a goal in each of the #B1GCats' three games this season.
Fayeulle notched her second assist of the game in the 86th minute by playing a ball to Gorman on the left side of the box. Gorman took the pass and put it past the keeper for the game-winner and her first goal of the season.
Goalie Lauren Clem had two saves in the victory.
Northwestern outshot the Blue Demons by a 9-6 margin.
The Wildcats will wrap up their four-game road swing on Sunday, Aug. 28, when the team makes the trip to Lexington, Ky., to battle Kentucky at noon. The game will be streamed on SEC Network+/ESPN3.
