Wilimovsky Places Fourth in 1500M Free at the Olympics

RIO DE JANEIRO — Northwestern rising-senior Jordan Wilimovsky placed fourth in the finals of the 1,500m freestyle at the 2016 Rio Olympics on Saturday night.
 
Wilimovsky, who won his heat on Friday afternoon, posted a personal-best time of 14:45.03 in Saturday's race. Italy's Gregorio Paltrinieri took home gold, while Connor Jaeger of the USA took silver and Gabriele Detti of Italy took bronze.
 
Wilimovsky's time is the second fastest time in U.S. men's swimming history.

 
The Malibu, California, native will now turn his focus towards the 10-kilometer open water event on Tuesday, Aug. 16. Wilimovsky qualified for the Olympics by winning the 10k event at the 2015 FINA World Championships. Tuesday's race will begin at 7 a.m. CT
