EVANSTON, Ill. — Junior Justin Jackson has been named to the Doak Walker Award watch list, given annually to the nation's top running back.

This is the second-straight year that Walker has been named to the list and comes a week after he was named to the Maxwell Award watch list, given annually to America's College Player of the Year.

Jackson is among 77 players named to the list, including 10 from the Big Ten. Other Big Ten players on the list include Saquon Barkley (Penn State), Shannon Brooks (Minnesota), Corey Clement (Wisconsin), LeShun Daniels, Jr. (Iowa), Markell Jones (Purdue), Ke'Shawn Vaughn (Illinois), De'Veon Smith (Michigan), Devine Redding (Indiana) and Terrell Newby (Nebraska).

The Carol Stream, Ill., native is the leading returning rusher in the Big Ten following his 1,418-yard, five-touchdown campaign in 2015. He was an All-Big Ten Second Team selection and became the fifth player in program history to record back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons. He already ranks sixth in NU history in rushing yards with 2,605 on 557 carries.

The prestigious Doak Walker Award was created in 1989 to recognize the nation's premier running back for his accomplishments on the field, achievement in the classroom and citizenship in the community.
