No. 14 Northwestern Set to Host NCAA Tournament Regional

EVANSTON, Ill. – Following a record-breaking regular season, Northwestern will host Valparaiso Saturday at 1 p.m. in the first round of the 2016 NCAA Tournament at the Vandy Christie Tennis Center.
 
Another first round match between No. 40 Notre Dame and No. 29 Stanford will precede the Wildcats at 10 a.m.
 
The winners of Saturday's matches will square off Sunday at 1 p.m. to determine who advances to the Round of 16 in Tulsa, Okla.
 
Chicago's Big Ten Team is the No. 14 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament. The top 16 teams in the ITA national rankings each host the opening two rounds on their home courts.
 
This marks Northwestern's fifth straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Wildcats last advanced to the Round of 16 in 1997.
 
The team enters the tournament with a 25-4 record and three of the nation's top 57 ranked players.
 
Konrad Zieba is Northwestern's highest ranked singles player at No. 20. He went 14-6 in dual play on the year, with seven of those wins against ranked opponents. No. 40 Sam Shropshire went 13-5 in the dual season, including a perfect 7-0 record in the Big Ten. No. 57 Strong Kirchheimer lost just one match the entire spring season, going 22-1, and he jumped up 18 spots in the most recent ITA rankings.
 
Tickets
Ticket prices are $7 for adults and $5 for youth 18 and under, college students and senior citizens over 55. All seats are general admission, and tickets can be purchased at the entrance to the Vandy Christie Tennis Center. Gates will open at 9 a.m. on Saturday and noon on Sunday.
 
Parking
Parking is free in campus lots all day Saturday and Sunday. Fans should be mindful of street parking signs near the Vandy Christie Tennis Center. In case of inclement weather, matches will be moved inside to the Combe Tennis Center. Free weekend parking is available in the parking garage (2311 N Campus Drive).
