
No. 13 Northwestern Seeks to Stay Undefeated in Big Ten

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern heads west to face a pair of foes in Nebraska and Iowa this weekend.
The 13th-ranked Wildcats face Nebraska on Friday at 4 p.m. before heading to Iowa City to play No. 63 Iowa on Sunday at noon.
Last Time Out
Northwestern rattled off two more conference wins last weekend, to run its record to 19-2 (5-0). The Wildcats swept both No. 30 Wisconsin and Minnesota at home, extending their run of shutouts to four straight.
The Wildcats
At 19-2, Northwestern is having the best regular season in program history. The Wildcats are off to a 5-0 start in Big Ten play and will look to add a couple more to that total this weekend.
Strong Kirchheimer is having a remarkable season in singles, posting a 22-3 (16-1) record to this point. His .880 winning percentage ranks second all-time at Northwestern for a single-season. He has also partnered with Fedor Baev at No. 1 doubles for a 12-5 dual record.
Konrad Zieba is ranked 15th in the country and has a 17-6 (10-4) mark. He boasts 12 wins over ranked opponents. Sam Shropshire has moved all the way up to No. 40 in the singles rankings with an 8-4 record. He and Zieba team up at No. 2 doubles and have a 12-2 mark.
All three of Northwestern's doubles teams rank among some of the best duos to ever play for the program in terms of winning percentage. The Wildcats have been dominant in securing the first point of a match, doing so 18 times in 21 chances. The team is 18-0 when it scores first.
Scouting Nebraska
Northwestern's opponent Friday has started the season 11-7 and has a 2-3 record in conference play. The Cornhuskers were riding a six-match winning streak before they dropped their last three. Nebraska gets consistent play across the board and is led by the Boyer brothers, Dusty and Toby, at Nos. 1 and 3 respectively, with 14-3 and 12-4 records. The two team up in doubles play, where they have gone 12-2 this season.
Scouting Iowa
Iowa has started the season 9-10 (1-4), but the Hawkeyes are 6-1 at home. Iowa is coming off a pair of shutouts at the hands of Ohio State and Penn State, and the team has won just two of their last ten matches. Their number two singles and doubles are their only spots more than one win above .500.
History
Northwestern has never lost to Nebraska, winning all four of their meetings since the Cornhuskers joined the Big Ten.
Northwestern also has the all-time advantage over Iowa with 66 wins compared to 21 losses. The Wildcats have won the last seven meetings dating back to 2010.
