EVANSTON, Ill. – No. 41 Northwestern ran its Big Ten record to 5-0, easily disposing of Iowa 7-0 Sunday afternoon at Combe Tennis Center.
The Wildcats (7-8, 5-0 B1G) took care of business in doubles play to seize the early lead. At No. 1, the team of Alicia Barnett and Brooke Rischbieth topped Anastasia Reimchen and Zoe Douglas 6-3 while the No. 2 pairing of Erin Larner and Lee Or took down Aimee Tarun and Adorabol Huckleby 6-4.
Northwestern continued to roll in singles play as five of the six individuals won their first set.
Or was completely dominant in disposing of Huckleby at No. 6. The freshman cruised to an easy 6-0, 6-0 win to put the Wildcats up 2-0 in the match.
It didn't take NU long to clinch the match win with Jillian Rooney wrapping up a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Annette Dohanics at No. 4 followed by a 6-1, 6-3 triumph by Alex Chatt over Kristen Thoms at No. 3.
The 'Cats recorded their fifth and sixth straight-set victories of the day when Barnett downed Anastasia Reimchen 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2 and Rischbieth topped Tarun 6-1, 6-3 at No. 5.
