Wildcats Finish Sixth at Big Ten Championships

NEWBURGH, Ind. – Two Wildcats finished among the field's top 15 as Northwestern concluded play at the 2016 Big Ten Championships with a sixth-place team finish at Victoria National Golf Club in Newburgh, Indiana.
The Wildcats shot a final round of 4-under 284 to finish the 54-hole tournament at 9-over 873, six shots behind a fourth-place tie between Michigan and Michigan State.
Illinois won the team title at 26-under 838.
Dylan Wu led Northwestern in the individual standings at his second-career Big Ten Championships, finishing sixth overall at 3-under 213. The sophomore shot a team-best 3-under 69 in the tournament finale after closing out the day with two birdies in the final three holes.
Josh Jamieson got off to a great start with four birdies on the back nine. The senior was tripped up on the 410-yard No. 18, but finished the day at even-par 72 for the third-straight day. Jamieson finished 14th in the individual standings for the best Big Ten Championship finish of his career.
Ryan Lumsden, Sam Triplett and Andew Whalen played their best golf of the weekend in Sunday's finale. Triplett shot 2-under 70, courtesy of two birdies on the back nine. Lumsden struggled on the back nine with a pair of bogeys, but countered with two birdies on No. 1 and 14 to finish the day at 1-over 73. Triplett and Lumsden closed out the tournament at 6-over 222 to finish 32nd overall. Whalen also shot 1-over 73 in the tournament's finale.
The NCAA Tournament field will be announced on May 5 on the Golf Channel.
