EVANSTON, Ill. -- No. 41 Northwestern opens the home portion of its Big Ten season this weekend when it hosts No. 75 Nebraska at 11 a.m. Saturday and Iowa at 2 p.m. Sunday. Both matches are slated to be played indoors at Combe Tennis Center.

The Wildcats are beginning a stretch of eight consecutive conference matches to wrap up the regular season. NU is off to a 3-0 start in Big Ten play, having notched road wins at Illinois, Maryland and Rutgers. Of the team's next eight contests, five will be played in Evanston.

Northwestern (5-8, 3-0 Big Ten) is looking to bounce back from a challenging spring break road trip to the state of Texas that saw the Wildcats drop a trio of matches to ranked opponents.

NU has a pair of singles players and two doubles teams ranked by the ITA. In singles, redshirt sophomore Maddie Lipp leads the way with a No. 40 national ranking while sophomore Erin Larner is No. 81. Lipp and Alex Chatt are the Wildcats' top-ranked doubles team, coming in at No. 20 while Larner pairs with senior Alicia Barnett for a No. 40 ranking.

Northwestern has faced one of the most challenging schedules in the country to date. Of the team's 13 opponents to date, 11 of them have been ranked when they faced the Wildcats.

Nebraska is the final team to earn a ranking from the ITA this week, coming in at No. 75. The Cornhuskers are 17-2 overall and 4-1 in Big Ten play, but have faced only four ranked teams entering this weekend including only one in the top 50. Maggy Lehmicke plays No. 1 singles for Nebraska and is coming off an impressive 6-1, 6-2 win over Wisconsin's 54th-ranked Lauren Chypyha to improve her dual match record to 13-3, including 5-0 against league foes. The Cornhuskers posted a pair of 4-3 wins over Minnesota and Wisconsin last weekend.

Iowa enters its match at Illinois on Friday seeking its first Big Ten win of the season. At 10-9 overall and 0-5 in conference play, the Hawkeyes dropped six straight matches prior to posting a 4-1 win at Drake on Wednesday. Zoe Douglas has the team's best singles record at 10-3 (4-1 in Big Ten) while splitting time between the Nos. 2, 3 and 4 spots in the lineup. Natalie Looney and Aimee Tarun have the team's best doubles mark of 10-3 while bouncing between the Nos. 2 and 3 spots in the lineup.
