Andrew Cramer

#B1GCats To Send Two to NCAA Zone Diving Championships

3/9/2016 9:28:00 AM | Men's Swimming and Diving

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — A pair of Northwestern divers will be participating in the NCAA Zone Championships on March 10-12, attempting to qualify for the NCAA Championships. Andrew Cramer and Reed Dillon will both be diving in the 1-meter, 3-meter, and platform events at the Purdue Boilermaker Aquatic Center.

Cramer reached NCAA Zone Diving qualification standards in all three events over the course of the season. Dillon reached the mark in the 1-meter dive, but will compete in all three events.

Competition begins on Thursday with the 3-meter preliminaries at 12 p.m. CT, followed by the finals. The same schedule will be followed on Friday, as the men will be competing in the 1-meter dive. On Saturday, the men's platform preliminaries and finals will follow the women's competition, which begins at 11 a.m. CT.

Cramer, a native of Indianapolis, led the 'Cats in all three diving events this season. He has been a dominating presence from the springboards for the 'Cats in his three seasons in Evanston. In 2014, he dove in the Zone Championships in both the 1-meter and 3-meter events. This is Dillon's first appearance at NCAA Zones.

Each event has a certain number of automatic qualifiers for the NCAA Championships: 1-meter (7), 3-meter (9) and platform (8). After notching an automatic qualifier, the diver needs to finish in the top-12 in any of the other events to reach the NCAA Championships.

The top 18 from the preliminiaries will continue on to the finals session and scores carry over.

Live scoring will be available here
