EVANSTON, Ill. –
Northwestern senior guard Tre Demps and sophomore guard Bryant McIntosh received honorable mention All-Big Ten recognition when the conference's postseason honors were announced Monday.

McIntosh was a consensus honorable mention pick of both the league's coaches and the media while Demps was selected by the media.

It is the second honorable mention All-Big Ten recognition for Demps who was a consensus pick a year ago. The senior was exceptional over the second half of the Big Ten season, posting an average of 19.9 points per game while shooting 46 percent from the field and 42.5 percent from 3-point range over the team's final nine league games. Overall this season, Demps is the team's leader with an average of 15.5 points per contest and 67 3-point field goals. He also is averaging career bests of 3.6 rebounds and 3.3 assists per contest while ranking fourth in the league with a 2.74 assist-to-turnover ratio.

Demps scored a career-high 30 points Jan. 31 at Iowa and followed up the performance with 23 points and a career-best 8 assists in a victory over Minnesota on Feb. 4. He leads all Wildcats with eight 20-point games this season.

McIntosh has enjoyed perhaps the best overall season of any point guard in program history. He ranks second on the team to only Demps with an average of 13.6 points per game. However, McIntosh has been at his best as a facilitator of the Northwestern offense, dishing out a program-record 208 assists this season. The mark has bested the previous NU single-season high by over 50 assists.

McIntosh has dished out 10 or more assists in a game four times this season, making him the first player in program history to do so multiple times in the same campaign. Fourteen times this season, he has handed out 8 or more assists in a game, including notching a career-best 13 in a win over Rutgers Feb. 27. McIntosh also has a pair of 30-point games to his credit in 2015-16, scoring 32 against Columbia on Nov. 20 and 33 vs. Loyola (Md.) on Dec. 27.

In addition, senior Alex Olah was recognized as Northwestern's recipient of the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award. The students chosen are individuals who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior. These students must also be in good academic standing and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting.
