Northwestern Suffers First Setback of 2016

MESA, Ariz. — Northwestern suffered its first set back of the 2016 season with an 11-2 loss to Nevada on Saturday night at Sloan Park.
The Wildcats (2-1) surrendered a pair of four-run innings in the contest that allowed Nevada (1-2) to build a comfortable advantage. With the run support, Nevada's Mark Nowaczewski (1-0) went 6.0 innings, only giving up three hits and one run.
The Wolf Pack had four players with multiple hits, including Bryce Greager, who went 4-for-5 from the plate with two runs batted in.
Junior Josh Davis earned the loss on the evening for Northwestern.
The Wildcats got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth inning on a Connor Lind single that brought home Matt Hopfner. The RBI was Lind's third of the season.
Hopfner, who went 2-for-3 in the game, had his second consecutive game with multiple hits.
The Wildcats final run came in the ninth inning. Freshman Ben Dickey roped a pitch into right field to score Willie Bourbon.
Freshmen Danny Katz and Mack Rosman, along with junior Cooper Wetherbee, all made their collegiate debut tonight. Wetherbee came into pitch in the second inning and went 2.1 innings, striking out one.
Northwestern finished the game with seven errors and seven hits.
The Wildcats will look to take the series finale tomorrow when the teams meet at 12 p.m. CT at Sloan Park.
