Jackson, Carr Named to CoSIDA Academic All-America® Second Team

EVANSTON, Ill. — Senior wide receiver Austin Carr and junior running back Justin Jackson were named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Second Team Thursday morning, the organization announced.
Carr and Jackson are the first Academic All-Americans since Brian Arnfelt (second team) and Patrick Ward (first team) in 2012.
A economics major with a 3.31 grade point average, Jackson leads the Big Ten in rushing with 1,300 yards. He was named to the All-Big Ten first team on Wednesday and is the first player in program history to rush for 1,000-plus yards in three-straight seasons. Jackson scored a career-high 12 touchdowns during the regular season, including three in the season opener versus Western Michigan and in the season finale versus rival Illinois.
Carr has had one of the best seasons by a receiver in program history. He was named the Richter-Howard Big Ten Receiver of the Year after leading the league in receptions (84), receiving yards (1,196) and touchdowns (12). His 12 scores tied the Northwestern single-season record, while his receptions and yards marks are the second most in a season by a Wildcat.
The Benicia, California, native earned a bachlelor's degree in philosophy with a 3.53 GPA and is currently pursuing a master's degree from the Kellogg School of Management.
Northwestern wrapped up the regular season with a 42-21 win at Ryan Field on Saturday to improve to 6-6 on the year, and await a bowl destination that will be announced on Sunday, Dec. 4.
