EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern senior Kayla Morin was named to the 2016 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District V team, the organization announced Thursday.
CoSIDA's fifth district is comprised of Division I programs from Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio. Student-athletes are nominated because of significant on-court contributions and performance in the classroom. Those with a career GPA of at least 3.3 are eligible and voted upon for all-district by CoSIDA members.
Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team selections will be announced later this month.
Morin has held a 4.0 GPA throughout her Northwestern undergraduate career, while pursing majors in both Economics and Political Science. She is also minoring in Spanish. Morin was the recipient of the prestigious Kabiller Award and plans to attend law school after graduation from NU this year.
She has also been a standout on the court for the Wildcats. She is the team's active leader with 867 digs and has 968 career kills and 203 career blocks. Morin could become only the ninth player in program history to reach 1,000 career kills and digs. She has posted 18 career double-doubles.
