EVANSTON, Ill. – The Northwestern Wildcats (15-2-4, 7-1-3 B1G) travel to Durham, N.C. to take on Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (11-7-5, 6-3-1 OVC) on Friday Nov. 18, at 2:30 p.m. CT in the Round of 32 of the 2016 NCAA Women's Soccer Tournament.

The 'Cats kicked off the tournament in dominating fashion, beating the Kent State Golden Flashes 3-0 last Saturday. Kayla Sharples put in the first goal off of a Marisa Viggiano corner in the 17th minute. Nandi Mehta scored a rocket of a penalty kick just two minutes later, and Kassidy Gorman added a final goal late in the game to seal the victory. Northwestern had another tremendous defensive showing, recording its 16 shutout on the season.

The SIUE Cougars are coming off an improbable win, defeating second-seeded Notre Dame in a penalty shootout in the first round of the tournament. Despite getting outshot 21-3, the Cougars relied on their third shutout in four games. SIUE secured a spot in the NCAA Tournament after upsetting the No. 2 seed Eastern Kentucky in the OVC Tournament Championship game.

SCOUTING SIUE
• This is the first time SIUE has ever advanced past the first round of the NCAA Tournament. They are only the second OVC team to advance.
• The Panthers finished 4th in the regular season conference standings
• SIUE averaged 1.50 goals per game, while giving up 1.06 goals per game
• The Panthers led the OHV with 1.80 assists per game

SCOUTING NORTHWESTERN
• Northwestern won the regular season Big Ten Championship for the first time ever.
• The Wildcats' only two losses on the year came to Rutgers.
• NU is currently ranked No. 26 in RPI and No. 21 in the most recent NSCAA Coaches' Polls.
• Chicago's Big Ten Team has only allowed 0.28 goals per game and collected 16 shutouts to lead the country.
• The 'Cats are looking to reach the Round of 16 for the second time in the program history. The last team to reach Round of 16 was the 1998 squad.
