Northwestern hosts Kent State in NCAA Tournament

EVANSTON, Ill. – The Northwestern Wildcats (14-2-4, 7-1-3 B1G) will host the Kent State Golden Flashes (15-2-2, 8-1-2 MAC) on Saturday, Nov. 12 at 3 p.m., at Lanny and Sharon Martin Stadium, in the first round of the NCAA Women's Soccer Tournament.
 
This marks the second-straight year the Wildcats will play in the tournament, and it is their fourth trip overall. The 'Cats advanced past the first round last year after beating Washington State, but eventually fell to West Virginia in the Round of 32.

SCOUTING Kent State
  • Kent State is making its first-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament.
  • KSU won its first-ever ever MAC Conference Tournament Championship, after winning the East Division with a record of 8-1-2.
  • The Golden Flashes sole road loss came 3-0 at Ohio State on Aug. 19, a place where the Wildcats managed a 0-0 tie.
  • Kent State currently is ranked No. 35 in RPI.
  • KSU led the MAC with 2.00 goals per game and a goals against average of 0.72.
  • The Golden Flashes are led by Jenna Hellstrom who recorded 14 goals and 10 assists on the season.
 
SCOUTING Northwestern
  • Northwestern won the regular season Big Ten Championship for the first time ever.
  • The Wildcats' only two losses on the year came to Rutgers.
  • NU is currently ranked No. 26 in RPI and No. 21 in the most recent Coaches' Polls.
  • Six Wildcats collected Big Ten hardware.
  • Chicago's Big Ten Team has only allowed 0.28 goals per game and collected 15 shutouts.
