EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern Wildcats return home after a three-game road tour to host Michigan State and Michigan. Chicago's Big Ten Team will face off against the Spartans on Thursday, Oct. 6, at 7 p.m., before kicking off against Michigan on Sunday, Oct. 9.

Northwestern is currently 10-1-1 on the year, including a 3-1-1 mark in Big Ten play to sit third overall in conference play.

SCOUTING MICHIGAN STATE
• Michigan State is currently tied for eighth in the Big Ten with its 2-3-0 conference record, while Michigan holds out the top at 5-0-0.
• Freshman Hannah Jones is tied for third in the Big Ten with two game-winning goals.
• Jones was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week, the Big Ten league office announced Tuesday, Oct. 4. In a 3-2 double overtime victory over Maryland on Sept. 29, Jones recorded a hat trick, a feat that hasn't been accomplished by any MSU player since Laura Hebyoer in 2011.
• Michigan State returned seven starters from last season's team that concluded the year with a mark of 8-6-4 overall and 4-5-2 in conference play.

SCOUTING MICHIGAN
• Michigan earned a spot in the NSCAA Division I rankings for the first time since Oct. 28, 2014 (No. 25), coming in at No. 19 this week. Michigan was ranked as high as No. 7 early in the 2014 season after coming off an appearance in the 2013 NCAA Elite Eight.
• Michigan defeated No. 19 Rutgers (Sept. 29) to move to 2-0-0 against ranked opponents and then beat Maryland to improve to 5-0-0 in Big Ten play this season. It marks the best Big Ten start in program history for the Wolverines
• Nicky Waldeck was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday (Oct. 4) after recording a hat trick against Rutgers and an assist vs. Maryland last week.

BETWEEN THE PIPES
Junior Lauren Clem has been a solid presence for the Wildcats' defense this year, playing every minute of the 2016 season. So far this year, she has recorded nine clean sheets, allowing just four goals in 12 games. Last weekend, Clem anchored a unit that defended 28 total shots and 17 corners en route to a scoreless draw against Ohio State, good for the squad's NCAA-leading ninth shutout of the year. She earned the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year honor for her efforts. NU's four goals allowed (.325) per game rank first in the Big Ten and third in the NCAA.

Against Indiana State, the Stevensville, Michigan, native recorded a program record with her 25th career shutout. Clem now has 31-career cleansheets.

BALANCED ATTACK
Twelve Wildcats have registered goals so far this year. Sophomore Brenna Lovera leads NU with 12 points (6g, 0a) in 10 matches, while junior Kassidy Gorman has reigstered three goals for the #B1GCats.

NON-CONFERENCE WRAP UP
The Wildcats opened their 2016 slate with two-straight shutout victories against JMU and VCU before a 2-1 win over crosstown rival DePaul. NU rattled off four-consecutive shutouts to close out non-conference play.
