Odenigbo Named Big Ten Co-Defensive Player of the Week

EVANSTON, ILL. — Senior defensive end Ifeadi Odenigbo has been named the Big Ten Co-Defensive Player of the Week after racking up a career-high four sacks in Northwestern's 38-31 win at Iowa, the league office announced Monday morning.
This marks the first Defensive Player of the Week award in Odenigbo's career.
Odenigbo is the first Big Ten player with four sacks in a game since Ohio State's John Simon accomplished the feat in 2012. With his four sacks versus the Hawkeyes, Odenigbo moved past former Wildcats Deonte Gibson (2012-15), Tyler Scott (2010-12) and Dwayne Missouri (1997-2000) into fifth in program history with 18.5 career sacks.
He became the first Wildcat since at least 2000 to record four sacks in a game and his four sacks are the second most by a FBS player in 2016.

Penn State's Marcus Allen had 22 tackles in the Nittany Lions' 29-26 win over Minnesota to share the award with Odenigbo.
The Wildcats have their first and only bye week of the season and will be back in action at Michigan State on October 15.
