EVANSTON, Ill. - The No. 23 Northwestern Wildcats return to Martin Stadium for their final home tilt of the season. Chicago's Big Ten Team will face off against the Gophers on Saturday, Oct. 22, for Senior Day and Alumni Day. Kick off is set for 6 p.m.
Fans can purchase tickets here or at the door on Saturday one hour before kick off.
Chicago's Big Ten Time enters the weekedn with a 13-1-2 overall record and a 6-1-2 mark in Big Ten play. Last week, the Wildcats earned a win at Iowa before earning a scoreless draw against Nebraska in Lincoln. Junior Lauren Clem anchors a defense that has seen an NCAA-leading 12 shutouts. Minnesota leads the overall series 15-7-0, but the Wildcats claimed the most recent meeting with a 1-0 win in Evanston in 2014. The Wildcats and the Gophers are tied for second play in the Big Ten standings.
SCOUTING MINNESOTA
- Minnesota leads the Big Ten in goals (36), goals/game (2.12), assists (34), assists/game (2), points (106), shots (290).
- Simone Kolander leads the Big Ten in points (27), points per game (1.59) and is tied with Penn State's Frannie Crouse in goals (11).
- Tarah Hobbs has recorded six shutouts in conference play.
- Minnesota has outscored their opponents 36-10 this season, including a 17-3 edge in conference play.
BETWEEN THE PIPES
Junior Lauren Clem has been a solid presence for the Wildcats' defense this year, playing every minute of the 2016 season. So far this year, she has recorded 12 clean sheets, allowing just five goals in 16 games. NU's .302 goals against average ranks first in the Big Ten and in the NCAA. Clem's save percentage of .925 ranks second among Division I goalkeepers and first in the conference.
BALANCED ATTACK
Fifteen Wildcats have registered goals so far this year. Sophomore Brenna Lovera leads NU with 12 points (6g, 0a) in 10 matches, while junior Kassidy Gorman has reigstered four goals in 16 games for the #B1GCats.
NON-CONFERENCE WRAP UP
The Wildcats opened their 2016 slate with two-straight shutout victories against JMU and VCU before a 2-1 win over crosstown rival DePaul. NU rattled off four-consecutive shutouts to close out non-conference play.
