EVANSTON, Ill. โ No. 10 Northwestern plays its final home game of the regular season Friday, hosting 12th-ranked Michigan at Lakeside Field. The Wildcats will honor Juliet Beatty, Isabel Flens, Dominique Masters and Lindsay von der Luft in Senior Day ceremonies prior to the contest's 3 p.m. start.
NU follows up the matchup with Michigan by making the trek to Central Michigan for a match at 11 a.m. Central time Sunday.
Northwestern's senior class has posted a 54-25 career record to date while being a part of a Big Ten regular season title in 2013 and a conference tournament crown in 2014. Masters ranks sixth among all active Division I players with 49 career goals while Flens is seventh with 46 tallies.
NU (10-5, 4-2 B1G) is looking to get back on track and snap a three-match losing streak. The 'Cats are coming off a 2-1 overtime loss to Iowa last Friday. Elena Curley tallied a first-half goal for Northwestern. Both teams had 10 shots and five penalty corners in the evenly matched contest.
The Wildcats still have an outside shot at earning a share of the Big Ten regular season title. Maryland (6-1 B1G) already has clinched at least a share of the regular-season crown with only one match against Rutgers remaining. Northwestern also plays at Michigan State next Friday, Oct. 28.
Scouting Michigan
The Wolverines (9-6, 4-3 B1G) posted a 2-1 overtime win at home over Iowa on Sunday after suffering a 1-0 home loss to Indiana last Friday. In goal, Sam Swenson sports a 1.32 goals-against average with a .742 save percentage. Michigan won last year's meeting with Northwestern 4-3 in double overtime Oct. 16 in Evanston.
Scouting Central Michigan
The Chippewas are enduring a rough season, taking a 1-14 record into Saturday's match against Longwood. Central Michigan has been outscored 70-10 this year. Maude Stalars, Emily Barber and Grace Forthaus lead the team with two goals apiece. Lily Amadio (3.61 gaa, .636 save pct.) and Abigail Ebersole (5.73 gaa, .607 save pct.) have split time in goal for the Chippewas this season. Northwestern defeated Central Michigan 7-0 in the most recent meeting Sept. 12, 2015 in Evanston.
