BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. — Senior Mike Roberge scored the Golden Goal in the 94th minute of play to lead Northwestern past No. 2 Notre Dame Tuesday evening at Toyota Park.

The game-winning play was set up by Riley Kelliher's pass down the sideline to Elo Ozumba, who played it through to M. Roberge for the finally tally.

The victory sends Northwestern to 4-9-1 on the campaign, while Notre Dame moves to 10-3-1. This was the second consecutive overtime victory for the #B1GCats, who are fresh off a 2-1 (OT) win at Rutgers (Oct. 14).

After a quiet opening twenty minutes, Northwestern upped the pressure on the offensive end.

Ozumba ripped a shot that was blocked by a Notre Dame defender in the 25th minutes, which resulted in a loose ball finding the feet of Shannon Seymour outside the box. Seymour took a few dribbles inside the 18-yard box, before ripping a low shot to the far post to give Northwestern an early 1-0 lead.

The goal was the first of Seymour's career.

Northwestern's lead would not last long as the Fighting Irish took the ball into the box on the ensuing possession. Sean Dedrick found Mark Gormley with a pass and Gormley finished it off for the equalizer in the 26th minute.

The teams headed into the locker room knotted at 1-1 on the scoreboard and tied, 4-4, on shots.

Northwestern put on a great second half performance, with their resolute defending holding the Fighting Irish to just a single shot on goal in the second half.

The Wildcats had a chance to nick a goal in the 82nd minute, when they earned a free kick a couple yards outside the box, but Brandon Medina's attempt went high.

M. Roberge made a great defensive play in the final seconds of the game when Notre Dame had the ball inside the 18-yard line and launched a shot that M. Roberge stepped in front of to preserve the tie and send the game to overtime.

The game-winning goal was the second of the season for M. Roberge, who recorded one against Michigan on Sept. 25.
