No. 22 Wildcats Earn 12th Shutout of the Year

LINCOLN, Neb. – The No. 22 Wildcats earned their 12th shutout of the year as Northwestern earned a scoreless double-overtime draw on Sunday afternoon against Nebraska.
The 'Cats are now 13-1-2 on the season, heading into a matchup against No. 15 Minnesota next week.
The Huskers were the first to attack in the seventh minute, but the attempt when just high. Nebraska applied early pressure with a shot on goal in the opening minutes, but junior Lauren Clem made her first save of the game to keep the Huskers off the board.
Marisa Viggiano gave the Wildcats their best chance of the half with a shot on frame, but the host team came up with the save.
After 45 minutes of action, the game remained scoreless as the teams entered the halftime break.
The second period played out much like the first as neither team could capitalize. Maria Grygleski mustered up another attempt for Chicago's Big Ten Team, but the 'Cats were unable to find the back of the net to force the game into overtime.
The two squads played out 20 minutes of extra time, but neither team was able to cash in.
Northwestern will return home to Lanny & Sharon Martin Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 22, when it hosts No. 15 Minnesota for Senior Day. Kick off is set for 6 p.m.
