2016 Big Ten Championships Brackets
 
IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Big Ten released the official brackets Friday afternoon for the 2016 Big Ten championships set for this weekend at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City.
 
The championships begin Saturday at 10 a.m. and run through the finals on Sunday at 3 p.m.
 
Sessions I-III will be streamed live on BTN Plus, while the finals will be televised live on the Big Ten Network.
 
Jason Tsirtsis (149) and Jameson Oster (141) lead the way for Northwestern with No. 4 seeds at their respective weight classes. Dominick Malone is No. 9 at 133, while Mitch Sliga is No. 10 at 174 lbs.
 
Tsirtsis, the two-time defending conference champion at his weight class, will receive a first-round bye and face the winner of Alec Pantaleo (MICH) or Tyson Dippery (RUT) in the second round. Tsirtsis beat Pantaleo 4-2 in sudden victory in a January dual meet.
 
Oster will look to qualify for the NCAA championships for the second straight year after finishing seventh at Big Tens in 2015. He begins his tournament with a match against Maryland's Alfred Bannister. A potential second-round matchup would pit Oster against either Michigan State's Javier Gasca III or Indiana's Tommy Cash. Oster took down fifth-seeded Gasca, 8-6, earlier in the season.
