Wildcats Weekly Release

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern rides a nine set winning streak to begin the season into Boise, Idaho this weekend for the Boise State Tournament. The Wildcats won three straight matches by 3-0 scores at the Rambler Challenge in Chicago and now put their perfect record on the line against some unfamiliar foes.

The last time Northwestern opened a season with three consecutive sweeps was 2011 when the 'Cats won each of their first five contests, 3-0. The Wildcats have opened 3-0 in five of the past six seasons.

Chicago's Big Ten Team will face two opponents for the first time in program history when it matches up with Idaho State on Friday at 3:30 p.m. and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Wildcats wrap up the tournament against host Boise State in only the third-ever match between the two schools. Northwestern and Boise State have split the series, with the Wildcats sweeping the most recent match in 2013.

Fans can live stream all three matches via the Bronco Digital Network and live stats are available from Boise State. Links for each match are listed at the top of the page.

Northwestern's attacking ability is among the best in the Big Ten so far in 2015. The Wildcats hit .309 as a team at the Rambler Challenge, including a .374 performance against Wake Forest in the season opener. The .309 combined clip ranks fourth in the conference.

Caroline Niedospial needs just 19 digs to move into sixth place on the all-time dig leaders list at Northwestern. The senior trails Jessica Holloway (1995-98) by six and Stephanie Holthus (2010-13) by 18. Kate Nobilio (2006-09) is the all-time leader in program history with 2,194.

Northwestern continues its string of nonconference tournaments with the Holiday Inn University Plaza Invitational at Western Kentucky from Sept. 11-12 and hosts the Wildcat Challenge at Welsh-Ryan Arena Sept. 18-20.
