EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern's Jordan Wilimovsky and head coach Jarod Schroeder have been named to the USA Swimming National Team for the 2015-16 season, the organization announced this week. Wilimovsky is on the roster in the 1,500-meter freestyle and the 10K open water event, while Schroeder was named to the coaches roster.

Earlier this summer, Wilimovsky became the first United States swimmer to qualify for the Rio 2016 Olympic games when he won the FINA World Championship in the 10K open water swim in Russia. He later won the 1,500-meter free at USA Nationals with a dominant 14:57.05, a time that vaulted him all the way up into the top 10 in the world in that event.

As Wilimovsky's primary training coach, Schroeder earned a place on the U.S. National Team coaches roster for the upcoming season, as well.

The USA Swimming National Team comprises the six athletes with the highest world rankings in each Olympic event from the combined results of all USA Swimming or FINA sanctioned meets from Jan. 1, 2015, to Aug. 10, 2015. The full roster can be found at USASwimming.org.
