Northwestern Sweeps Through Rambler Challenge

CHICAGO, Ill. – Northwestern made it three straight sweeps to open the 2015 season with a 3-0 win over the Loyola Ramblers Saturday at Gentile Arena. The Wildcats 25-20, 25-19, 25-19 victory over the tournament hosts keeps Chicago's Big Ten Team atop the Big Ten standings with a perfect 3-0 mark through the opening weekend.
Moments that Mattered
Northwestern took control early in the first set, but Loyola mounted a comeback to tie the set at 12. A Sofia Lavin kill gave the Wildcats a lead that they would not relinquish.
With Loyola leading 8-7 in the second set, Lavin again sparked the Wildcats with a kill that led to a 9-2 Northwestern run, putting the Wildcats up six and effectively pushing the 'Cats to the win.
Notable
Caroline Niedospial was named to the All-Tournament Team after tallying 40 digs and nine assists.
On her birthday, Taylor Tashima handed out 35 assists, while recording three digs and three kills.
