SANT JULIA DE VILATORTA, Spain –
Redshirt senior Tre Demps went off for 38 points as the Northwestern men's basketball team improved to 3-1 on its tour of Spain with an 85-62 victory over CB Tarragona Saturday evening.

Demps nailed six 3-pointers in the contest in a dazzling performance. Alex Olah contributed 19 points for the 'Cats.

Olah made good use of his size advantage down low in the opening quarter. He scored seven of the Wildcats' first 15 points as NU jumped out to a five-point lead, 15-10.

CB Tarragona closed to within one, but one free throw apiece from Demps and Olah followed by a slam dunk by Scottie Lindsey gave Northwestern a 19-14 lead after 10 minutes of play.

The lead was short-lived, though, as CB Tarragona started the second quarter on an 11-3 run to take its largest lead of the half, 25-22. However, a 3-pointer by Vic Law tied the game and Olah followed with a basket to put the 'Cats back in front.

The advantage was 34-32 late in the half before Demps hit a triple and Law beat the first-half buzzer with one of his own to give Northwestern an eight-point lead, 40-32, at the intermission.

Demps lead the way with 15 points in the opening stanza while Olah added 12.

Demps picked up right where he left off in the third quarter. The redshirt senior hit two straight 3-pointers and then scored on a layup to give Northwestern a 48-34 lead and Demps 23 points just 90 seconds into the period.

A bucket by Lumpkin and yet another one by Demps made it an 18-2 run spanning both halves. Demps would hit 30 points with 3:45 still remaining in the third quarter when he nailed his fifth triple of the contest.

Northwestern's lead was 62-49 after three quarters following Scottie Lindsey's highlight reel dunk over an unsuspecting CB Tarragona player.

After a 3-pointer cut NU's lead to 10 at the beginning of the fourth, Olah scored seven points and Demps hit his six triple to push the lead back up to 20. Demps would add an old-fashioned three-point play as well as a dunk before exiting with 38 points with 3:26 remaining.

Northwestern closes out play on its trip to Spain at 10:30 a.m. Central time on Sunday when it takes on US Toulouges.
