MURCIA, Spain
– Northwestern broke open a close game by putting together a dominant second half, out-scoring UCAM Murcia II 56-23 after the break to earn a 94-54 win Thursday evening in the Wildcats' third game of their Spain exhibition tour.

Scottie Lindsey posted a game-high 20 points to lead six NU players in double figures for the second consecutive game. Tre Demps added 18 points, while Joey van Zegeren (12), Aaron Falzon (11), Gavin Skelly (11) and Alex Olah (10) also reached double figures.

After scoring a game-high 22 points in the Wildcats' victory on Tuesday, Lindsey came off the bench early in the contest and provided another offensive boost. The sophomore scored six of the team's first eight points, but NU found itself in an early five-point deficit.

The trio of Lindsey, Demps and van Zegeren did nearly all of the scoring in the opening quarter. A basket by van Zegeren gave Northwestern its first lead, 16-15, before Demps closed out the quarter with consecutive buckets for NU to give the 'Cats a 20-17 advantage after the opening period.

Skelly was working hard down low to start the second quarter, earning a pair of and-one opportunities as the Wildcats' lead grew to 25-20. However, a 7-2 run by the hosts tied the contest at 27.

Northwestern's defense stiffened the remainder of the half, though, as the Wildcats finished the stanza on an 11-4 run to take a 38-31 advantage at the intermission. Demps paced NU with 11 points in the opening half while Lindsey chipped in with 10.

The second half was simply all Northwestern. The Wildcats came out of the break with a great deal of energy, particularly on the defense. NU got stops and consistently turned them into transition baskets as it used its athleticism to its advantage.

A basket by Lindsey, two free throws by Olah and bucket by Demps quickly pushed the lead to 15. After throwing down four dunks in Tuesday's win, van Zegeren was up to it again in the third quarter. The graduate student center threw down three slams in the period to lift the 'Cats and deflate UCAM's spirits.

A 32-11 advantage in the third quarter pushed NU's lead to 28, 70-42. Northwestern cruised from there as it topped 90 points for the second consecutive game and raised its scoring average to 91.3 points over its first three games of the tour.

The Wildcats return to action at 8 p.m. Saturday in Barcelona when they take on CB Tarragona.
