EVANSTON, Ill. — A trio of Northwestern men's basketball student-athletes have been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches Honors Court, the organization announced Thursday.
Redshirt sophomore Sanjay Lumpkin (Wayzatta, Minn./Benilde-St. Margaret's) and seniors Dave Sobolewski (Naperville, Ill./Benet Academy) and Jeremiah Kreisberg (Berkeley, Calif./Head-Royce School/Yale) were recognized as a part of a record 1,000 student-athletes from more than 350 colleges and universities. The NABC Honors Court recognizes the talents and gifts the men possess off the court and the hard work they exhibit in the classroom.
In order to be named to the Honors Court, a student-athlete must be either a junior or senior academically, possess a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2013-14 academic year and have matriculated at least one year at their current institution.
A learning and organizational change major, Lumpkin was also an Academic All-Big Ten selection after averaging 4.3 points and 3.8 rebounds per game, while shooting 52.6 percent from the floor in 32 contests last season.
Sobolewski completed a degree in economics and earns the recognition from the NABC for the second-straight season. The Illinois native appeared in 123 games for the Wildcats in his four seasons, making 88 starts, and finished with 334 career assists.
Kreisberg, a graduate transfer from Yale, appeared in 24 games in his lone season with the 'Cats and is working towards a master's degree in liberal studies.
