Shropshire Drops First-Round Match in NCAA Singles Championship

Northwestern sophomore falls to top-40 opponent from TCU

WACO, Texas -- Sophomore Sam Shropshire closed the 2014-15 season for Northwestern Men's Tennis in the first round of the NCAA Singles Championship, which was played at the Hurd Tennis Center at Baylor University.

In his first trip to the field of 64, No. 48 Shropshire fell 6-4, 6-3 to No. 39 Cameron Norrie of TCU.

The two-time first-team All-Big Ten selection helped guide No. 30 Northwestern to a 21-10 record and 8-3 in Big Ten play this spring. Shropshire finished 23-13 overall and 19-10 in dual season singles competition, and went 9-1 against conference opponents. He anchored the top spot in NU's lineup throughout the season.
