Shropshire Earns Selection to NCAA Singles Championship

EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern sophomore Sam Shropshire has earned an at-large selection to the 64-player singles field for the 2015 NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Championships.

This is Shropshire's first selection to the tournament which will be conducted May 20-25 at the Hurd Tennis Center on the campus of Baylor University in Waco, Texas.

Currently ranked a career-best No. 42 in the nation by the ITA, Shropshire earned his second-consecutive first-team All-Big Ten selection this season. He has played at the No. 1 spot in the Wildcats' lineup all season and has 19-8 mark in dual match play and a 23-10 record overall. Shropshire sports a 9-1 against Big Ten foes.

Among his four wins over nationally ranked players this season was a straight-sets victory over Big Ten Player of the Year and 21st-ranked Leandro Toledo of Minnesota.

Shropshire has helped guide Northwestern to a 20-9 dual match record. The Wildcats, ranked No. 30, earned a fourth-straight NCAA team tournament appearance and will take on Harvard in a first-round matchup May 8 in Norman, Okla.
