EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern junior Kristen Wood (Trevor, Wis./Wilmot Union) has been named the Big Ten Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season after racking up 27 strikeouts in 15 innings during a sweep of Purdue last weekend.

Wood, who now ranks 14th in the NCAA with 9.9 strikeouts per seven innings, twice established career highs for strikeouts in a game over the weekend to help Northwestern remain the lone unbeaten in Big Ten play.

She first tossed seven innings in Friday's opener, fanning a career-high 13 before ending up with a no-decision when the game went into extras. On Saturday, Wood pitched a scoreless seventh inning for the save, then came out Sunday and held the Boilermakers to a lone run while upping her career-high for single-game Ks to 14.

Prior to heading to No. 14 Minnesota this weekend for a three-game series, Northwestern hosts UIC at 4 p.m. CT Wednesday at Sharon J. Drysdale Field.
