Northwestern Secures NCAA Tournament Bid

EVANSTON, Ill. -- No. 30 Northwestern earned an at-large bid to the 2015 NCAA Men's Tennis Tournament on Tuesday and will travel to the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Okla. for the opening rounds. This will be NU's fourth straight tournament appearance.
Northwestern (20-9) enters a challenging bracket and will face familiar rival No. 34 Harvard (19-7) in the first round on Friday, May 8 at 1 p.m. The `Cats beat the Crimson 4-3 in a riveting comeback Feb. 8 in Evanston.
On the other side of group play, New Mexico State (11-13) will take on host No. 1 Oklahoma (24-2). OU is also the tournament's overall first seed.
The first and second rounds will be played May 8-10 at 16 regional sites around the country. The final three rounds are set for May 14-19 at the Hurd Tennis Center on the campus of Baylor University in Waco, Texas.
NU completed conference competition last weekend at the Big Ten Tournament. Seeded fourth, the `Cats had a first round bye before beating fifth-seeded No. 44 Indiana 4-1 in quarterfinals. In the semis, Northwestern fell 4-0 to top-seeded and fourth-ranked Illinois, also the host.
The Wildcats' lineup features a pair of all-conference selections. Sophomore Sam Shropshire was named a first-team All-Big Ten honoree and classmate Strong Kirchheimer was recognized as a second-team All-Big Ten pick.
