EVANSTON, Ill. -- As it continues preparation for the 2015 season, Northwestern will compete four times during the month of April beginning with a home match against Big Ten foe Iowa on Saturday, April 4.
"This is an exciting time of the year and an important part of the team's journey," said Northwestern head coach Keylor Chan. "A strong spring schedule will both challenge us and help us prepare for the upcoming fall," Chan added.
"The spring season always provides us with a great opportunity to sharpen our own skills and begin to implement new ideas for the upcoming year," he said.
In addition to squaring off against the Hawkeyes at Welsh-Ryan Arena to begin the slate, the Wildcats will visit crosstown rival Loyola and make two trips north of the border to Milwaukee, Wis.
Training begins on Monday, March 30 when the 'Cats return from spring break for for the spring academic quarter. After the first five sessions, NU will conclude the busy first week with a scrimmage against Iowa at Welsh-Ryan Arena on Saturday, April 4 at 4 p.m. Three days later, Chicago's Big Ten Team will take a short trip south to the Rogers Park neighborhood to play against the Loyola Ramblers at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7.
On Sunday, April 12, the action continues with a combined practice and scrimmage in Milwaukee, Wis., against the Marquette Golden Eagles at the Al McGuire Center. Marquette is in its second season under head coach Ryan Theis. If that name looks familiar to Northwestern fans, that's because Theis spent time as an assistant under Chan from 2004-05.
The 2015 spring schedule wraps up on Saturday, April 25 with another trip north on Interstate 94. The 'Cats will participate in an all-day tournament hosted by the Milwaukee Panthers at the Klotsche Center.
2015 Northwestern Spring Schedule:
