EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern plays its first of two games on the road this week as it travels to Pinnacle Bank Arena on Tuesday to play Nebraska. Tip-off is set for 6:30 p.m.

The Wildcats are coming off a 68-60 home loss to Purdue on Saturday. Northwestern led 29-28 at halftime, but the Boilermakers opened the second half on a 21-4 run and the 'Cats were unable to get closer than six the rest of the way. Tre Demps and Bryant McIntosh led NU with a game-high 18 points apiece.

McIntosh enters the week ranked 11th in the Big Ten with a scoring average of 14.9 points per game in league play. The freshman guard has scored in double figures 16 times this season, a mark that leads the team.

Northwestern's 1-7 Big Ten record doesn't accurately reflect how well the team has played over the last three weeks. Each of the team's last six losses have been by single digits. NU's average margin of defeat over the six-game span is just 4.2 points. Prior to last Saturday's loss to Purdue, each of the previous five contests were a one-possession game with less than two seconds remaining in regulation.

Northwestern has a 1-3 record in its Big Ten road games this season, but has been outscored by a total of just six points in those four contests. The largest margin of defeat was seven points in overtime at Michigan State.

The Cornhuskers lead the all-time series with the Wildcats, 6-2, including a 3-1 edge since Nebraska joined the Big Ten Conference. Nebraska won a pair of close meetings with Northwestern a year ago, winning 53-49 in Lincoln on Feb. 8 and 54-47 in Evanston on March 1.

Scouting Nebraska
• The Cornhuskers are coming off a 60-42 loss at Minnesota on Saturday. Shavon Shields scored a team-high 11 points while Terran Petteway added 10 for Nebraska which committed 20 turnovers in the contest.
• Petteway ranks third in the Big Ten with a team-leading average of 18.6 points per game and Shields ranks sixth in the league at 16.3 points per contest. The Cornhuskers rank second in the conference with a .387 opponents field goal percentage.
• Tim Miles has a 46-40 record in three seasons as the head coach at Nebraska and a 117-128 career mark as a head coach.
