EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern seeks to replicate last year's success at Williams Arena as it travels to Minneapolis to face Minnesota on Wednesday. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m.

Tre Demps hit a 3-pointer with 55 seconds left that broke a tie score and put Northwestern up for good in the Wildcats' 55-54 win at Minnesota on Feb. 1 of last season.

The series between the teams has been very even over the last decade. In fact, Northwestern and Minnesota have split their last 26 meetings going back to the 2002-03 season.

Wednesday's matchup is the lone scheduled regular-season meeting between the teams this season.

In the Wildcats' most recent contest, Bryant McIntosh scored 18 points, Tre Demps contributed 16 and Alex Olah had 11 points, 13 rebounds and 5 blocked shots as the Wildcats outlasted Iowa 66-61 in overtime on Sunday. Northwestern limited the Hawkeyes to 32.3 percent shooting.

Northwestern's 12 blocked shots against Iowa tied the school's single-game record and rank as a tie for the second most by a Big Ten team in a conference game over the last six seasons. Alex Olah's 5 blocks were a season high and moved him to within four of John Shurna for NU's career leader in the category. Olah enters Wednesday's contest with 132 career blocks.

The contest is a homecoming for redshirt sophomore Sanjay Lumpkin who is a native of nearby Wayzata, Minn. His father, Sean, was an All-Big Ten safety on Minnesota's football team from 1988-91.

Scouting Minnesota
• The Golden Gophers suffered a 90-71 loss at Indiana on Sunday despite getting a team-high 23 points from Andre Hollins. The Hoosiers shot 59.3 percent from the field in the contest, including hitting 18 of 32 3-point field goal attempts.
• Hollins paces Minnesota with an average of 15.2 points per game. His 71 3-point field goals rank second in the Big Ten. Minnesota players rank first, second, third and fifth in the Big Ten in steals per game, paced by DeAndre Mathieu's average of 2.2 per contest. The team's average of 10.5 steals per game ranks second in the nation.
• Richard Pitino has an 41-23 record in two seasons as the head coach at Minnesota and a 59-37 career record in three seasons overall as a head coach.
