TAMPA, Fla. -- No. 13 Northwestern returned to the practice field Sunday for the first time since a break for the holidays, conducting their first practice session in Tampa at Jesuit High School in preparation for the 30th Outback Bowl.
Following the two-hour session, sophomore All-Big Ten linebacker Anthony Walker Jr. and freshman quarterback Clayton Thorson discussed getting back on the field, and looking ahead to Friday's matchup with No. 23 Tennessee at Raymond James Stadium.
On Sunday evening the Wildcats and Volunteers engaged in their first competition of the week, a friendly bowling matchup at Splitsville.
On Monday Northwestern will return to the practice field at Jesuit High School, visit Tampa General Hospital and attend the Tampa Bay Lightning game against the Eastern Conference-leading Montreal Canadiens at Amalie Arena.
The 30th Anniversary Outback Bowl will kick-off at 12 p.m. ET/11 a.m. CT on New Year's Day in Raymond James Stadium, home of the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers, on ESPN2 and WGN Radio.
