MEET NOTES (PDF)

EVANSTON, Ill. —
After nearly a month off, the Wildcats are back in action with the FAU FUN Invite in Boca Raton, Florida, on Saturday.

The meet, featuring FAU, Northern Arizona, Marywood, and Old Dominion, will begin at 10 a.m. CT. Northwestern is currently in the midst of a training trip in South Florida.

LAST TIME OUT
In late November, the 'Cats won the TYR Invitational at the Norris Aquatics Center and had an altogether productive three days. In all, the 'Cats earned six NCAA 'B' cuts and broke two pool records.

In the first day, Mary Warren (Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) swam a 22.98 in the 50 free, a time good for a 'B' cut. In the same day, a quartet of 'Cats broke the 400 medley relay pool record with their swim of 3:41.92.

Two sprinters — Annika Winsnes (Singapore/United World College) and Lacey Locke (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) joined in with 'B' cuts of their own. Winsnes swam a first-place time of 1:47.50 in the 200 free and Locke turned in a season-best 54.45 in the 100 back.

Locke and Winsnes both returned in the third day to notch more 'B' cuts. Locke earned hers this time in the 200 back (1:57.43), while Winsnes qualifed in the 100 free (49.78). Right behind Locke was Melissa Postoll (Acworth, Ga./Kennesaw Mountain) who also had a 'B' qualifying time of 1:58.83.

SUNSHINE STATE

Northwestern is in the midst of their annual training trip in South Florida. The team has been practicing since they arrived on Tuesday during winter break. The last time the 'Cats swam in the FAU Invite was in 2009, and they swept their competition.

WHO'S HERE?
Florida Atlantic, the host for the meet, competes against Georgia Tech and Cincinnati on Friday in Naples, Florida. The Owls are led by senior Rachel Crino, who took home an NCAA 'B' cut in the 100 back with her time of 54.82 at the Georgia Tech Invitational in November. FAU notched another 'B' cut in the form of senior Agnes Bucz's 2:01.47 performance in the 200 IM at the same invitational.

The Northern Arizona Lumberjacks have also been led by their experienced swimmers. Senior Kendall Brown has been dominant in distance free events and junior Urte Kazakeviciute has been the go-to swimmer in breaststroke events. Brown's season-best time of 10:30.93 in the 1,000 free is 15 seconds better than the next-closest Lumberjack swimmer.

Last time out, junior Colleen VandePoel of Old Dominion swam a 'B' cut with her 11th-place time of 55.05 in the 100 back. In her career as a Monarch, VandePoel has climbed the ODU record book with her swims in the 100 and 200 back.

Finally, Division III Marywood swims right off the heels of breaking the school record in the 800 free relay at the WPI Gompei Invitational (8:16.54). The Pacers also broke their school record in the 200 back with freshman Mia Nardone's preliminary swim of 2:15.05.

POOL TIME WITH THE 'CATS
After a pair of 'B' cuts at the TYR Invitational, Winsnes was interviewed by teammate Katie Branch (Phoenix, Ariz./Horizon Honors) in the Norris Aquatics Center pool for the second episode of Pool Time with the 'Cats.
