Northwestern Picks Up Seven Wins at Vassar Duals

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Northwestern continued its hot start to the 2015-16 season with seven more wins at the Vassar Duals on Sunday. The Wildcats went 7-1 on the day and scored more than 20 points in six of the eight duals.
Northwestern held its opponents to just 41 points overall, including only allowing one to Tufts, two to Queens and Stevens Tech and four to Haverford and Vassar.
Chicago's Big Ten Team improved to 14-2 on the season.
Several Wildcats posted dominant individual outings, especially in the Sabre, which continues to be the strongest weapon group for Northwestern. The group went a collective 66-6 with Julia Abelsky posting a perfect 12-0 mark on the day. Emine Yücel, Cindy Oh, Alisha Gomez-Shah and Sacha Bazzal were 11-1 and freshman Maddy Curzon went 10-2.
Mandeep Bhinder was also undefeated on Sunday. Bhinder went 12-0 in the epee and was joined in the double-digit win column by Courtney Dumas, who was 10-2.
In the foil, Stefani Kahookele, Yvonne Chart and Jen Yamin posted double-digit wins for the 'Cats, all going 10-2.
The Elite Cup Duals are next up for the Wildcats on Saturday. The all day event is held in Philadelphia, Pa.
