Senior center posted a double-double in win over UMass Lowell

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern senior center Alex Olah (Timisoara, Romania/Traders Point (Ind.) Christian Academy) has been recognized as the Big Ten Men's Basketball Co-Player of the Week the league office announced Monday.

It is the first such honor for Olah who shares this week's award with Minnesota's Joey King.

Olah received the award based upon his dominant performance in Northwestern's 79-57 season-opening win over UMass Lowell on Friday. He connected on 7 of 11 field goal attempts and 7 of 8 tries from the free throw line in posting game highs of 21 points, 12 rebounds and two blocked shots. The effort marked the ninth double-double of his career and the third time in which he has posted 20 or more points and 10 or more rebounds in the same game.

Olah's point total was four shy of his career high achieved vs. Michigan March 3, 2015 while his rebounding mark was one shy of his career best vs. Iowa Feb. 15, 2015.

Northwestern returns to action at 7 p.m. Wednesday when it hosts Fairfield at Welsh-Ryan Arena as part of the CBE Hall of Fame Classic.
