Kirchheimer Advances to Semifinals at ITA Midwest Regionals

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Northwestern junior Strong Kirchheimer continued his run through the singles main draw at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships at Notre Dame with another win on Sunday.
 
Kirchheimer, the tournament's No. 8 seed, was matched up against No. 4 seed Aron Hiltzik of Illinois in the quarterfinals and won a 7-5, 6-2 decision to keep his title hopes alive.
 
He will face second-seeded Chris Diaz from Ohio State, the nation's 29th-ranked player, on Monday for a spot in the championship.
 
The semifinals and finals will both take place Monday morning beginning at 9 a.m.
