Northwestern Picks Up Three Dual Meet Wins

CHICAGO
-- Northwestern's men's swimming and diving team picked up three dual meet victories on Saturday at a four-team event hosted by University of Chicago. The Wildcats defeated host University of Chicago 226-67, UIC by a score of 211-89 and Denison by a 222-78 score.

The Wildcats brought home the top finish in 14 of 16 events on the day. Andrew Jovanovic led the way for Northwestern on the day, winning three individual events. The junior opened his day by touching first in the 100 backstroke in a time of 50.60. He later took home top honors in the 100 freestyle (46.43) before winning the 100 butterfly (50.21).

Freshman Carter Page continued the stellar start to his collegiate career as he picked up two victories. His day was highlighted by setting a new pool record in the 1000 free in a time of 9:26.97, winning by nearly 20 seconds and topping the previous mark by four hundredths of a second. Page was also a winner in the 500 free, coming home first in 4:38.89.

Jonathan Lieberman, Justin Hanson and Andrew Cramer joined Page in winning two events on the day. Lieberman won the 200 free (1:42.17) and 200 back (1:52.89), topping teammate Tyler Lis by one hundredth of a second in the latter. Hanson took top honors in the 200 fly (1:52.41) and the 200 IM (1:55.26). Cramer swept the diving events, posting a score of 301.05 on the 1-meter board and 331.05 on the 3-meter.

Northwestern also got victories from Almog Olshtein in the 50 free (21.12) as well as the 200 medley relay team of Alex Snarski, Thanas Kountroubis, Arjun Sharma and Olshtein (1:33.27) and the 400 free relay squad of Snarski, Lieberman, Will Hofstadter and Olshtein.

The three dual meet wins bring the Wildcats' dual record to 3-1 this season.

Northwestern returns to action Nov. 6-7 when it takes on Missouri, Kentucky and Southern Illinois in Columbia, Missouri.
