EVANSTON, Ill. -- Eight Wildcats are among the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America Scholar-Athlete award winners for the 2014-15 season, the organization announced last week.

Three of the eight Wildcats who were honored graduated in 2015 and all three have gone on to further their educations in graduate school. Andrea DiPrima is pursuing a Master's degree in Social Work at Illinois, Julia Kuhn is in the Master's program for Speech-Language Pathology at New York University and Amy Letourneau is enrolled in Northwestern's post-baccalaureate certificate program in Finance. Letourneau is returning to the Wildcats for the 2016 season following a medical hardship waiver in 2014.

That trio joined returning undergraduate Wildcats Nicole Bond, Sammy Nettling, Sabrina Rabin, Fran Strub and Krista Williams in earning the award with diverse majors including economics, human development and psychological services, journalism and communications studies.

All told, 5,493 softball players across seven membership divisions earned NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete honors for the 2014-15 academic year. NCAA Division I, with 1,554 honorees, had the most student-athletes with a 3.5 grade-point average or higher.
