NU Begins Fall Season at ITA All-American Championships

EVANSTON, Ill. -- The Northwestern men's tennis team kicks off its 2014-15 campaign this weekend with a trip to the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla. It is the first of four tournaments for the 'Cats this fall.
Sam Shropshire, the 2014 Big Ten Freshman of the Year and No. 78 in the ITA Preseason Singles Rankings, has earned a spot in the qualifying singles draw. Fedor Baev, Alp Horoz, Strong Kirchheimer, Mihir Kumar, Logan Staggs, and Konrad Zieba will be competing for NU in the prequalifying singles draw. Prequalifying competition begins this Saturday (Sept. 27), and qualifying will begin the following Monday (Sept. 29).
The duos of Shropshire/Baev and Kumar/Staggs will participate in the qualifying doubles draw. Kumar and Staggs have earned an ITA Preseason Doubles ranking of No. 44.
