Northwestern Names 2014-15 Team Captains

EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern's men's basketball program has named its team captains for the upcoming 2014-15 season as voted upon by the team's members.

Redshirt senior JerShon Cobb, senior Dave Sobolewski and redshirt junior Tre Demps were the three individuals selected by their teammates to serve in the leadership role.

Cobb has appeared in 73 career games, including making 57 starts. He posted career-best averages of 12.2 points and 4.8 rebounds per game last season, ranking second on the team in the former category. A native of Decatur, Ga., Cobb led the team with a .352 3-point field goal percentage in 2013-14. He scored a season-high 23 points against Minnesota and had 22 at Michigan State.

Sobolewski, a Naperville, Ill., native, enters his final season at NU ranked sixth in school history with 312 career assists. A 2011-12 Big Ten All-Freshman Team selection, Sobolewski has appeared in 92 career games with 86 starts. His 127 assists as a sophomore are the eighth-best single-season total in school history. Sobolewski's 724 career points are tops among all returning Northwestern players.

A native of San Antonio, Texas, Demps provided the Wildcats with a huge boost off the bench a year ago. His average of 11.0 points per game last season ranked among the nation's leaders for individuals who primarily came off the bench. Demps scored a career-best 23 points against DePaul and tallied 20 points in a win over Iowa in the Big Ten tournament. He has appeared in 68 career games with 16 starts.
