ATHENS, Ga. - Northwestern senior Raleigh Smith saw his collegiate career come to an end Wednesday morning in the opening round of the NCAA Singles Championship at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.

Smith, ranked 49th by the ITA, dropped a 6-3, 6-3 decision to 32nd-ranked Jason Tahir of Duke in the opening round of 64.

A two-time first-team All-Big Ten selection, Smith helped lead Northwestern to berths in the NCAA team tournament each of his last three seasons. He finished the 2014 dual meet campaign with a 13-11 record while playing at the top spot in the Wildcats' lineup.
