Northwestern Team Notes
Nebraska leads the all-time series with Northwestern by a 6-2 margin and has taken three straight in the series.
Northwestern held Nebraska to 234 yards rushing. The Cornhuskers had been averaging 303.5 yards per game and entered the day ranked second in the Big Ten and fifth nationally.
Over the past five games, NU has outscored its foes in the first half, 55-24.
Northwestern recorded a 15-play drive that consumed 5:41 on its first offensive series, scoring on a 2-yard Justin Jackson touchdown rush. It marked the fifth time in seven games this season that Nebraska has allowed a touchdown on its first defensive series of the game.
Cornhuskers I-back Ameer Abdullah became the first opposing player to score four touchdowns in a game against Northwestern since Wisconsin's Montee Ball had four on Nov. 27, 2010.
The Wildcats scored on all three of their trips in the red zone, bringing their season total to 21-of-24 (87.5 percent success rate).
Through seven games, Northwestern still has lost only two fumbles. In six games this season, NU didn't lose a fumble (the Wildcats lost their only two on Sept. 20 vs. Western Illinois).
Northwestern Individual Notes
RB Justin Jackson gained 128 yards on 22 carries (5.8 ypc), becoming the first Wildcat to record three consecutive 100-yard rushing games since Venric Mark had four straight 100-yard outings from Oct. 13-Nov. 10, 2012.
Jackson has now gained at least 100 yards against three teams ranked in the top six in the Big Ten against the rush (Nebraska was ranked fifth going into the game).
In his last three games, Jackson has 390 yards on 78 carries (5.0 ypc).
Jackson recorded his first multi-touchdown game of the year and now has five total scores, matching Trevor Siemian (four rushing, one receiving) for the team lead.
Jackson has finished as Northwestern's leading rusher in all seven games, running his season total to 624 yards this season (89.1 ypg).
Jackson's career-long 27-yard run was the longest NU play from scrimmage tonight.
WR Miles Shuler led all Wildcats with five catches for 33 yards before exiting the game in the second half with an injury.
RB Treyvon Green had the longest NU reception of the night, a 23-yarder from QB Trevor Siemian.
With 173 passing yards, Siemian moved into eighth on Northwestern's career passing yardage list with 5,213, passing Dan Persa (5,181, 2009-11).
With his two catches, SB Dan Vitale extended his streak of consecutive games with at least one catch to 18 games, the longest current streak among active Wildcats.
With three catches, WR Kyle Prater tied Vitale for the team lead with 26 receptions this season.
Northwestern's 18 completed passes today were distributed among eight different r receivers.
S Traveon Henry led all players with 12 tackles, the first time this season he led the Wildcats in stops. The total was one off his single-game career high.
LB Chi Chi Ariguzo was second among all players with 11 tackles and leads NU with 62 in 2014. LB Godwin Igwebuike added a career-high nine tackles and a pass breakup.
Ariguzo, who added a tackle for loss tonight, passed S Ibraheim Campbell as the active NU career leader with 291 tackles. Campbell, who has missed the last three games with an injury, has 285.
K Jack Mitchell has now made seven-of-eight field goals on the season after converting a 29-yarder against Nebraska.
