EVANSTON, Ill. - With the start of the regular season just under a month away, all 14 Big Ten schools' men's and women's basketball programs convened at the annual Big Ten Basketball Media Day at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare on Thursday.

The comedian of the Big Ten men's head coaches Tim Miles of Nebraska met the media at the podium just prior to Coach Collins taking the stage. That's a tough act to follow and Coach Collins knew it.
Chris Collins: "I didn't realize I was following Coach Miles, so I won't even try to be funny."

In order to have a successful season, Northwestern must improve upon a 7-6 record prior to the start of Big Ten play a year ago.

Dez Wells of Big Ten newcomer Maryland stopped Coach Collins in the hallway. "You used to be at Duke, right?" Wells said. Wells, who knew Chris Collins' father, Doug, was a former head coach of the Chicago Bulls asked Chris if he had any good Michael Jordan stories and Coach Collins was happy to share one with Wells.

Don't forget to join the Wildcats for their open scrimmage this Saturday at Welsh-Ryan Arena prior to the 6:30 p.m. football game between Northwestern and Nebraska. Admission to the open scrimmage is free of charge with festivities getting underway at 2:30 p.m. and lasting until 3:45.
