EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern continues and concludes its season-long, five-match homestand this weekend as the Wildcats welcome No. 12 Nebraska and Iowa to Welsh-Ryan Arena to lift the lid on Big Ten play. The 'Cats will tangle with the Huskers on Friday, Sept. 27 at 7 p.m. before doing battle with the Hawkeyes on Saturday, Sept. 28 at 7 p.m.

No One Better Than Number One
Northwestern outside hitter Stephanie Holthus, who wears No. 1 on the court for the 'Cats, reeled in a prestigious national honor this week when she was named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I Player of the Week on Tuesday. The 2012 All-America honoree averaged 6.2 kills and 4.1 digs per set to help NU win the 32nd Wildcat Classic at Welsh-Ryan Arena. Holthus becomes the second Wildcat all-time to earn the distinction, joining Erika Lange, who was the National Player of the Week on Sept. 8, 2003.

B1G Love
The Wildcats won three of four weekly honors from the Big Ten Conference this week following an undefeated weekend at home. Senior Stephanie Holthus captured her third career Big Ten Player of the Week award, while newcomer Caleigh Ryan was named both the Big Ten Setter and Freshman of the Week. Holthus was named the MVP of the Wildcat Classic after averaging more than six kills and four digs per set. She also set a Northwestern record with 24 kills in a three-set match on Sept. 20 against the Miami RedHawks. Ryan was tabbed as the conference's Setter of the Week after handing out 13.55 assists per set during the Wildcat Classic. The Glen Ellyn, Ill., native helped the 'Cats hit .309 over the weekend. Ryan recorded a career-high 61 helpers in a win against South Florida on Sept. 20 and matched a career high with 13 digs against the Bulls.

Home Cooking Tastes Great
Northwestern continues its season-long five-match homestand at Welsh-Ryan Arena this weekend as Big Ten play opens in Evanston against No. 12 Nebraska and Iowa. The Wildcats are 6-0 on their home floor this season with the wins coming against Columbia, Belmont, Boise State, South Florida, Miami (OH) and IUPUI. NU won just five of its 13 home matches last season.

Chan Chasing Another Milestone
Northwestern head coach Keylor Chan is only two victories shy of claiming his 200th as the bench boss of the Wildcats. Northwestern's 3-1 victory over the Yale Bulldogs on Sept. 8, 2012 was the 200th career win as a collegiate head coach for the veteran leader. Chan now owns 198 wins in 14 seasons at NU and another 18 in his one season (1999) as the head coach at Furman. Only Jerry Angle, who led the 'Cats from 1978-93, has more wins in program history with 327.
